ఓ సుమతీ! ఒక కుక్కను తీసుకొచ్చి, బంగారు సింహాసనం మీద కూర్చోబెట్టి, శుభ ముహూర్తాన వైభవంగా పట్టాభిషేకం చేసినా, అది తన వెనుకటి నీచ గుణాన్ని (చెప్పులు కొరకడం వంటివి) మానుకోదు. అలాగే, నీచుడికి ఎంత గొప్ప పదవి ఇచ్చినా వాడు తన నీచ బుద్ధిని మార్చుకోలేడు.

O wise one! Even if you seat a dog on a golden throne and perform a grand coronation at an auspicious time, it will not give up its innate habits (like chewing on shoes). Similarly, giving a high position or status to a person of low character will not change their fundamental nature.

In modern life, this verse reminds us that external status, wealth, or promotions cannot hide or change a person's true character. Electing corrupt individuals to power or dressing up incompetence in fancy titles does not solve the underlying issues.
