ఓ సుమతీ! చక్కగా చదువుకోని నోరు, అమ్మ అని పిలిచి అన్నం అడగని నోరు, తమ్ములను ప్రేమగా పిలవని నోరు వ్యర్థము. అట్టి నోరు కుమ్మరి మట్టి తీసుకుపోగా మిగిలిన వట్టి గుంటతో సమానము.

O Sumati! A mouth that does not study well, does not affectionately ask a mother for food, and does not call upon younger brothers is useless. Such a mouth is comparable to an empty pit left in the ground after a potter has dug out the useful clay.
