Meaning

In English

A true yogi is one who, while residing in the hermitage, severs all worldly illusions and attachments. He realizes that the Supreme Soul resides within his own body (likened to a pot) and constantly meditates upon that Divine Guide without a moment's forgetfulness. This internal realization, rather than external appearance, defines true spirituality.

Modern relevance

In the modern world, this verse reminds us that true peace does not come from changing our external location (like going to a retreat) but from cutting off mental distractions (Maya). It encourages looking inward to find strength and divinity within ourselves ('Ghatamu') rather than seeking validation outside. It suggests a practice of constant mindfulness and gratitude in our daily lives.
