గుంతనిండఁ బూడ్చి గుఱుతు నిల్పి
మనుజులెల్లఁ గూడి మఱిదేవుఁ డందురు

మట్టిని తెచ్చి, నీళ్లతో కడిగి ముద్దగా చేసి, ఒక బొమ్మను తయారుచేసి, దానిని ఒకచోట నిలబెట్టి పూజలు చేస్తారు. కేవలం మట్టితో చేసిన ఆ బొమ్మను చూసి మనుషులందరూ అదే దేవుడని భ్రమపడుతున్నారు. దేవుడు ఆ మట్టి బొమ్మలో లేడు, మనలోనే ఉన్నాడని వేమన భావం.
