Meaning
In English
Those who have successfully controlled their wavering minds are the true knowers of secrets and attain the supreme state of Moksha. Just as a person who plants a tree does not necessarily do so to eat the fruit himself but for the benefit of others, a wise person performs their duties with detachment, without craving the fruits of their actions (Nishkama Karma).
Modern relevance
In today's result-oriented world, this verse teaches the value of mindfulness and detached action. It encourages us to focus on performing our duties and helping others (like planting a tree for posterity) rather than being constantly anxious about personal gains or immediate rewards.
