వైష్ణవులు బతికున్నప్పుడు విభూతిని నిరసిస్తారు, కానీ చనిపోయాక దహనం చేయబడి బూడిద (వెలిబూది) అవుతారు. శైవులు (లింగధారులు) బతికున్నప్పుడు తిరుమణిని (మట్టిని) నిరసిస్తారు, కానీ చనిపోయాక పూడ్చబడి మట్టి (తిరుమణి) అవుతారు. అంతిమంగా అందరూ తాము ద్వేషించే వాటిలోనే కలుస్తారు కాబట్టి, ఈ మత భేదాలు, వాదనలు వ్యర్థమని వేమన బోధిస్తున్నాడు.

Vemana highlights the irony of sectarianism: Vishnu devotees, who wear clay marks in life, are cremated into ash (associated with Shiva) upon death. Conversely, Shiva devotees, who wear ash in life, are buried into the earth/clay (associated with Vishnu) upon death. Since death ultimately swaps their fates and returns everyone to the elements, arguing over religious differences is futile.
