వేదశాస్త్రములను వెలయ నేమి
పడఁతిఁ గనినవాఁడు బాపఁడు గాఁడయా

కేవలం సంధ్యావందనం, జపతపాలు చేసినంత మాత్రాన లేదా వేదశాస్త్రాలను ఔపోసన పట్టినంత మాత్రాన ఎవరూ గొప్పవారు కాలేరు. స్త్రీ వ్యామోహంలో చిక్కుకున్నవాడు లేదా కామదృష్టి కలిగినవాడు బాహ్య ఆచారాలు ఎన్ని పాటించినా నిజమైన బ్రాహ్మణుడు (జ్ఞాని) కాలేడు. చిత్తశుద్ధి లేని ఆచారాలు వ్యర్థమని భావం.
