లోకంలోని ప్రజలు తామే గొప్ప మర్యాదస్తులమని, బుద్ధిమంతులమని విర్రవీగుతూ, అవధూతగా తిరిగే వేమనను చూసి వెర్రివాడని హేళన చేస్తారు, ఆశ్చర్యపోతారు. కానీ వేమనలో ఉన్న నిజమైన సిగ్గు (భక్తి, వైరాగ్యం, అంతఃశుద్ధి) కేవలం ఆ భగవంతుడికి మాత్రమే తెలుసు. బాహ్య వేషధారణను బట్టి కాకుండా, అంతరంగిక శుద్ధిని బట్టి మనిషి విలువ నిర్ణయించబడుతుంది.
