స్నాన మొనరఁజేసి తద్ధర్మమీయక
నీళ్ళ మునుఁగ నగునె నేర్పు లేక
నీళ్ళయందు కోడినెలవుగా మునుఁగదా
విశ్వదాభిరామ వినర వేమ!

భావం · Meaning
కేవలం నదిలో స్నానం చేసినంత మాత్రాన పుణ్యం రాదు; దానికి తోడు దానధర్మాలు, ఆత్మజ్ఞానం ఉండాలి. నీటిలో నివసించే పక్షి (నీటి కోడి) నిత్యం నీటిలోనే మునుగుతూ ఉంటుంది, అంతమాత్రాన అది గొప్పదేమీ కాదు కదా! అలాగే చిత్తశుద్ధి లేని బాహ్య స్నానాలు నిష్ప్రయోజనమని భావం.

Performing ritual baths without the accompanying spirit of charity and true wisdom is futile. Just as a water-fowl dips in water constantly without gaining any spiritual merit, a person who merely bathes physically without inner purity and generosity achieves nothing.
