Meaning
In English
A true philosopher is one who cuts off the worldly desires residing within the body, guards their heart with steadiness, and establishes their life on a righteous path. Vemana metaphorically contrasts a 'Kompa' (a mere hut/body with desires) with a 'Gr̥hamu' (a noble home/sanctified self), suggesting that transforming the former into the latter through self-control is the mark of wisdom.
Modern relevance
In the modern world filled with endless distractions and consumerist desires, this verse emphasizes the importance of mental discipline and emotional intelligence. It suggests that true success and wisdom come not from accumulating material possessions, but from mastering one's own impulses and maintaining a stable, principled mind.
