నిరుడు మీదటేఁడు నిన్న మొన్న
దగ్ధులయిన వారు తమకంటెఁ దక్కువా

మనుషులు అహంకారంతో కళ్ళు మూసుకుపోయి సత్యాన్ని గ్రహించలేకపోతున్నారు. నిన్నో, మొన్నో, పోిన ఏడాదో చనిపోయి బూడిదైన వారు, ఇప్పుడు బతికి ఉన్న తమకంటే ఏ విషయంలోనూ తక్కువ వారు కాదు. మరణం అందరికీ సమానమేనని, గర్వం విడనాడాలని కవి హెచ్చరిస్తున్నాడు.
