సంపద ఉన్నప్పుడు మనిషి గర్వంతో కళ్లు మూసుకుపోయి దానం చేయడు. పేదరికం వచ్చినప్పుడు దానం చేద్దామన్నా చేతిలో చిల్లిగవ్వ ఉండదు. ఈ రెండు స్థితులు (కలిమి, లేమి) లేని సమయం అంటూ ఎప్పుడూ రాదు. కాబట్టి, ఉన్నప్పుడే గర్వం వీడి పరోపకారం చేయాలని భావం.

When wealthy, a man is blinded by arrogance and refuses to give; when poor, he lacks the means to give even if he wishes.
