మొనసి శాస్త్ర మనుచు మురువు దక్కు

అల్పబుద్ధి గలవాడు గొప్ప యజ్ఞయాగాదులు చేసి, అది శాస్త్ర సమ్మతమే అని గొప్పలు చెప్పుకున్నా, అతనికి దక్కేది కేవలం ఆడంబరమే తప్ప నిజమైన పుణ్యం కాదు. గెంతులు లేదా విన్యాసాలు నేర్చుకున్న కుక్క, బరువులు మోసే ఎద్దులాగా కుండలను మోయలేదు కదా! అలాగే అర్హత లేనివాడు చేసే గొప్ప పనులు నిష్ప్రయోజనము.

A person of low character may perform elaborate rituals and claim scriptural authority, but he gains only vanity, not true spiritual merit. Just as a dog trained for tricks cannot perform the heavy labor of carrying pots like a beast of burden, an unworthy person cannot uphold the true weight of dharma simply by imitating rituals.
