గురువు వృక్షానికి మూలం (వేరు/కాండం) వంటివాడు, శిష్యులు ఆ వృక్షానికి ఉండే కొమ్మల వంటివారు. కొమ్మలు బయటకు కనిపిస్తాయి కానీ మూలం కనిపించదు. అందుకే లోకంలోని మనుషులు బాహ్యంగా కనిపించే శిష్యులను చూస్తున్నారు కానీ, సర్వానికి ఆధారభూతమైన నిజమైన గురువును (పరమాత్మను) గుర్తించలేకపోతున్నారు.
