ఈ పద్యం దొంగ గురువులను, వారి ప్రవర్తనను తీవ్రంగా విమర్శిస్తుంది. అటువంటి గురువును ఆశ్రయిస్తే అతని అనుచరులు (కుక్కలు) బాధిస్తారు; ఒకవేళ అతన్ని వదిలేస్తే అతనే (కుక్కలా) కీడు చేస్తాడు. అన్నం పెట్టిన వారికి విశ్వాసం చూపించే కుక్కకు ఉన్న పాటి బుద్ధి కూడా ఇటువంటి నీచమైన గురువుకు ఉండదని వేమన భావం.
