Meaning
In English
Vemana uses the metaphor of an oil mill to explain spiritual practice. One should treat the body as the mill, harness desire (like an ox) to drive it, and process one's accumulated karmas (sesame seeds) through it. The Soul is the master miller who wisely directs this process to crush karma and extract the essence of liberation, rather than being enslaved by the body or desires.
Modern relevance
This verse teaches the art of 'Sublimation'—transforming raw impulses into productive energy. Instead of suppressing desires or being lazy, one should channel their drive (desire/ox) through the body (mill) to work through their responsibilities and challenges (karma). By remaining the conscious 'operator' (Soul) of one's life rather than a passive victim, one can turn daily struggles into wisdom and personal growth.
