Meaning

In English

One who cannot transcend the distractions of the mind and intellect, and who fails to merge the clinging ego completely into the inner Self (Atma), is considered intoxicated by ignorance. For such a deluded person, there is no possibility of attaining liberation (Mukti) in this world.

Modern relevance

In today's fast-paced world, we are often trapped by overthinking and ego-driven desires, which create stress and confusion. This verse reminds us that true peace and freedom come from quieting the mind, letting go of arrogance, and finding connection with our inner self. Without this internal integration, we remain 'intoxicated' by worldly distractions and cannot find lasting happiness.
