రూపంబును దెలియలేరు రూఢిగఁ దమలో
దీపమగు తెలివి గలిగియు
పాపంబుల మఱుగుత్రోవఁ బడుదురు వేమా!

దీపం లేని ఇంట్లో వస్తువుల రూపం కనబడదు. అలాగే అజ్ఞానాంధకారంలో ఉన్నవారు తమలోని ఆత్మస్వరూపాన్ని తెలుసుకోలేరు. విచిత్రమేమిటంటే, విచక్షణ అనే జ్ఞానదీపం తమ వద్ద ఉన్నప్పటికీ, మానవులు దానిని ఉపయోగించుకోకుండా పాపపు చీకటి దారులలోనే పయనిస్తున్నారు.

Just as one cannot see objects in a house without a lamp, one cannot perceive the Truth without inner light. The poet laments that even though humans possess the 'lamp' of intelligence or wisdom, they fail to use it and instead stumble into the hidden, dark paths of sin and ignorance.
