Meaning
In English
Human beings constantly crave trivial and fleeting worldly pleasures, which inevitably lead to abundant sorrow and suffering. In this pursuit, they fail to understand how to attain the supreme, everlasting bliss of spiritual realization and live a truly fulfilling life.
Modern relevance
In today's consumerist society, people often chase temporary satisfaction through material wealth, social media validation, and sensory indulgences, which often result in stress and mental anguish. This verse reminds us to look beyond these fleeting joys and seek deeper, lasting inner peace and purpose, rather than getting trapped in the cycle of desire and disappointment.
