గాలమందుఁజిక్కి కూలినట్లు
ఆశపుట్టి మనుజుఁ డారీతి జెడిపోవు

నీటిలోని చేప మాంసం ముక్కపై ఆశతో గాలానికి చిక్కి ప్రాణాలు కోల్పోతుంది. అలాగే మనిషి కూడా అల్పమైన సుఖాల కోసం ఆశపడి, వాటి వ్యామోహంలో చిక్కుకొని తన జీవితాన్ని నాశనం చేసుకుంటాడు.

Just as a fish, tempted by the bait (flesh), gets caught in the hook and dies, a human being is ruined by giving in to desires. The verse illustrates how greed and yielding to temptations lead to one's ultimate destruction.
