ఇతరుల ధనాన్ని ఆశించి, తనకంటూ ఏ నీతినియమాలు లేకుండా ప్రవర్తించేవాడు పతితుడు. అటువంటి వాడు తాను గొప్ప కులస్థుడనని (ద్విజుడనని) చెప్పుకున్నప్పటికీ, అతనిలో జ్ఞాన తేజస్సు గానీ, బ్రహ్మవర్చస్సు గానీ ఉండదు. కులం గొప్పది కాదు, గుణం గొప్పది అని భావం.
